What is Trigeminal neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia or tic douloureux is a severe chronic pain that affects the facial area, giving the feeling of an electric shock in the gums, teeth or jaw. Trigeminal is the cranial nerve and neuralgia is defined as brief intense stabbing or burning pain, caused by irritation or damage to a nerve.

Trigeminal neuralgia definition

The definition of trigeminal neuralgia is trigeminal – fifth cranial nerve, neuralgia – an intense stabbing or burning pain, caused by damage or irritation to a nerve or group of nerves.

Trigeminal neuralgia symptoms

Trigeminal neuralgia symptoms include a sharp stabbing or burning pain, in and around the jaw, teeth and gums. Other symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia make include difficulty eating, drinking and brushing your teeth, as touch around this area can by hypersensitive. Symptoms can vary between 5 and 50 episodes per day.

Causes of trigeminal neuralgia

Evidence suggests that the causes of trigeminal neuralgia relate to pressure around the trigeminal nerve, which then transmits neuralgia symptoms along the nerve. Further studies into psychophysiological dis-ease, may also conclude that negative emotions are also causes of trigeminal neuralgia.

Trigeminal nerve inflammation

Trigeminal nerve inflammation shows a close correlation between neuropathic pain and trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Trigeminal nerve inflammation may be the result of infectious viral or bacterial disease. Studies into a psychophysiological cause may also highlight information as the cause of the inflammation.

Trigeminal neuralgia diagnosis

Trigeminal neuralgia diagnosis is based on expert opinion, usually the diagnosis will come from a dentist. There is no specific diagnostic test, as the symptoms of the condition are subjective.

How long does trigeminal neuralgia last

Trigeminal neuralgia can last for years if you don’t seek help. Of the many treatments, a psychophysiological approach may offer a rapid and natural remedy. Negative emotional memory images (EMI’s) are created as a result of adverse experiences, these are stored in the minds eye. Each time something similar to the original event occurs, the EMI triggers the body’s stress response to the perceived threat. Clearing the EMI removes the threat response, subsequent inflammatory response, allowing the body and mind to rebalance.

Trigeminal nerve pain relief

Inflammation of the trigeminal nerve can create an intense pain that is difficult to relieve. Medications are given to reduce the inflammation. A psychophysiological approach can also be used for trigeminal nerve pain relief. Studies into adverse childhood experience (ACE’s) show that these early experiences have long-term negative health implications. We believe that negative emotional memory images (EMI’s), created at the time of the event, are stored inside the mind. From this point forward whenever anything similar to the original event occurs, the EMI triggers the stress response causing inflammation inside the body. Clearing the EMI removes the perceived threat and the Pavlovian stimulus response subsides.

Treating trigeminal neuralgia

A psychophysiological approach to treating trigeminal neuralgia may yield positive results. Studies into adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) correlate to chronic pain and poor health outcomes in later life. We believe at the time of the event split-second learning has taken place, creating a negative emotional memory image (EMI). This EMI then fires the body’s threat response system whenever something similar to the original event occurs. This mechanism creates a hormonal imbalance, which releases stress hormones into the system each time the EMI is engaged. Clearing or removing this EMI may be an effective way of treating trigeminal neuralgia.

Trigeminal neuralgia and hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be used for Trigeminal neuralgia. Hypnotherapy has been used for centuries to relax the mind and body. Inflammation may be a result of the body perceiving a threat within the environment. Hypnotherapy may then be used to remove or alleviate the threat response, subsequently clearing the inflammation that may be causing trigeminal neuralgia.

Can hypnosis help trigeminal neuralgia

Hypnosis can help trigeminal neuralgia by re-routing the informational flow between the body and the mind. Hypnosis has been used successfully for centuries to calm the troubled mind and bring both mind and body back into balance. Recent studies into pain point to a psychophysiological cause of many chronic conditions, of which trigeminal neuralgia is one. Relaxing your mind can create the time and the space for hidden feelings to rise to the surface, safely and comfortably. Once these blockages have been cleared, informational flow can return, relieving inflammation responses.

Trigeminal Neuralgia is a chronic facial pain, the key is in the word ‘chronic’. A doctor friend of mine explained that in medical terms, chronic means “I haven’t got a clue.” The moment you fall under the ‘chronic condition’ title, the specialists are guessing. Now you are here and I would like you to consider that your brain works well. From the world of chronic pain comes the word ‘Nociception’, which would have you believe that your brain is misinterpreting signals from one part of your body and translating them into pain, owing to a perceived threat from within your environment. The threat is not perceived, it will be very real but hidden within your unconscious mind and that’s why you are here…

This audio production is designed to ease your thoughts so that you become more flexible. By clearing negatively charged Emotional Memory Images from your external screen, your mind and body are able to adapt to the present moment, freeing you of the mental clutter that prevents your brain from resting, calmly, gently and at ease. Facial pain on one side
If you have facial pain on one side of your face, it’s usually a sign of a bacterial infection. Trigeminal neuralgia also creates facial pain on one side, giving rise to sharp, stabbing and burning pain.
Trigeminal neuralgia ear pain - facial nerve pain
Trigeminal neuralgia is caused by inflammation around the trigeminal nerve, this sharp stabbing facial pain can also impact the ear. Medications can be taken to try and reduce the pain. A psychophysiological approach to treatment seeks to remove deep seated negative feelings. The removal of which may have a profound reduction on inflammation.
Trigeminal neuralgia ms
Trigeminal neuralgia and MS may be intrinsically linked when viewed as a psychophysiological dis-ease. Negative emotional memory images (EMI’s) created as a result of an adverse experience, continually trigger the body’s stress response. This results in the deregulation of the HPA-axis, causing hormonal imbalance and inflammation. Trigeminal neuralgia and MS may both correlate to information being the cause of inflammation.
